Rootpublish AI facts check
Is AI telling your buyers the right price?
Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI what a vendor costs and whether there is a minimum term. In September 2026 we asked an AI assistant with web search the same buyer questions about 30 B2B companies that publish their pricing. For 12 of them, it stated a price, plan, contract term or feature that differs from the company's own pricing page.
What the assistant got wrong
Company names are withheld and the companies' own pages are summarized. On the left is the assistant's answer; on the right, the company's pricing or home page.
Contract term
AI answer
6-month minimum, with 12–24 months typical
Pricing page
(Summary) No long-term commitment; engagements start with a 3-month trial.
A pricing model that does not exist
AI answer
Pro: $79/month. Team: $399/month. Free to start; 14-day trial.
Pricing page
(Summary) No plans or per-seat prices; a fixed yearly quote after scoping.
Refund
AI answer
No money-back guarantee is offered
Home page
(Summary) A 14-day risk-free trial with a no-questions-asked refund.
- "Setup fee: none", where the pricing page charges a setup fee on every plan (a Japanese company)
- Custom quotes "only from 500+ locations", where the pricing page offers a custom plan above 50 locations
- For 3 companies that publish their prices or terms, the answer said they were not published
What we checked
| Companies | 30 B2B companies that publish their pricing (15 English-language, 15 Japanese): AI services, marketing services, local SEO, fractional CMOs and SaaS |
|---|---|
| Question | What a buyer asks: plans and prices, minimum term and cancellation, what is included, who it is for |
| Wrong value stated | 12 companies (8 English-language, 4 Japanese) |
| Published prices or terms called unpublished | 3 companies |
| Same figure found on another page of the company's own site | 3 of the 12 |
Sometimes the wrong figure also appears on the company's own blog or another of its pages. More often, none of the pages the assistant cited carry it: the answer came from old information or a guess. Correcting old pages helps, but the fix is to state prices, terms and scope plainly where assistants look.
What the free check includes
- The assistant's full answer to a buyer's questions about your company
- Every statement that differs from your pricing and service pages, with both quotes and the reason
- The pages the answer cited, and the likely sources of a wrong figure
One company, public pages only. We email the result to you only, usually within 3 business days.
How to fix what it finds
- Correct old articles and pages that contradict your pricing page.
- Publish pages on your own site that answer buyers' questions about price, terms and scope plainly. Rootpublish for WordPress drafts articles from your own knowledge for you to approve and publish.
- Ask the assistant again and check whether the answer changed.
Method and limits
- In September 2026 we asked one assistant with web search (Claude) the same question once per company. We have not yet checked ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini.
- Answers change from one question to the next. Asked twice about one company, the assistant gave different answers, and both were wrong.
- We checked each difference against the company's pricing and service pages ourselves. Statements that could be right under another reading of the page are not counted.
- We do not publish the companies' names, and we cannot guarantee that an assistant's answer changes after a fix.
