Your company knowledge becomes sourced article proposals. Bring your AI; review and approve in WordPress.

== Description ==

Rootpublish stores company facts and editorial policy in WordPress. Connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini API credentials, or use the HTTP MCP endpoint with a compatible authenticated client. AI proposals stay unpublished until a WordPress editor approves them.

The local plugin supports knowledge management, manual drafting, review, publication, restoration and export. The optional automation service provides durable scheduled assignments, execution allowances and subscription administration. It is a substantive remote service and does not resell model inference. Free and paid service allowances apply only to its automated assignments. Manual WordPress editing is never metered or disabled by a subscription.

== External services ==

Only after you configure a provider and request a generation, the plugin sends approved company facts, editorial instructions, the brief and relevant original article text to your selected provider:

* OpenAI: https://api.openai.com — terms https://openai.com/policies/terms-of-use/ and privacy https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/
* Anthropic: https://api.anthropic.com — terms https://www.anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms and privacy https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
* Google Gemini: https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com — terms https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and privacy https://policies.google.com/privacy

MCP clients receive only the tools and data authorized by their WordPress user. Private facts and provider API keys are excluded. Use a dedicated, revocable WordPress Application Password over HTTPS. OAuth-only clients require a separately compatible adapter and cannot use the Basic-auth endpoint directly.

Optional automation service: you explicitly enter and authorize its URL. The service receives your site URL, scheduled article briefs and execution state. Provider credentials and company fact bodies remain on the WordPress side. Confirm that the service is operated by a party you trust. Public Rootpublish service launch and commercial terms are pending release readiness.

== Installation ==

1. Upload rootpublish.zip through Plugins > Add Plugin, then activate it.
2. Open Rootpublish as an administrator. Add company facts with a source and approve only publishable information.
3. Configure your provider key and a supported model ID, or use the MCP endpoint with a compatible client.
4. Request an article. Review the full text and evidence before publishing.

WordPress administrators and editors can access the editorial workspace. Only administrators manage canonical facts and connections. Publication requires the publish_posts capability and target-post edit permissions.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Are AI calls free? =
No. You pay your AI provider directly. Plugin calls, retries and your other AI usage can consume the provider's allowance. Set a provider-side budget as well as the plugin's local daily call limit.

= Does MCP run while my AI client is closed? =
No. Unattended MCP generation requires an external host that is actually running. API mode runs in WordPress. WP-Cron is traffic-triggered; use a host-level scheduler for predictable execution.

= Is source validation a factual guarantee? =
No. References are checked against approved facts and versions. A human still verifies the actual claims, rights and suitability of the article.

= What happens when I uninstall? =
Posts, company knowledge and records are retained. Back up or export them before deliberately removing stored data. Disconnecting the automation service does not cancel a paid subscription; use billing management to cancel.

== Source and build ==

Admin source and build scripts ship in the project source archive. A public maintained source repository URL must be added before WordPress.org submission.

== Search improvement and optional Google services ==

Search Console and GA4 are optional read-only connections through the selected automation service. They require a configured Google Cloud OAuth application at that service. Search Console query/page averages are measured using exact Pacific-date windows and final data. Reports may omit queries and are not proof of non-indexing or universal real-time rank.

One SEO improvement is prepared at a time. Record search intent and 1–3 inspected top-result URLs using manual research or an MCP host with a web-search tool. Direct provider mode does not perform SERP inspection. Publication starts observation; other Rootpublish changes to the page are blocked until review or explicit cancellation. Rank and improvement history are append-only and exportable. GA4 organic landing-page reports are separate from keyword ranks and AI citations.

The optional service stores encrypted Google refresh tokens and reads selected Google reports only after explicit authorization. Google scopes: webmasters.readonly and/or analytics.readonly. Terms: https://policies.google.com/terms . Privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy . The service privacy/terms pages must be completed before public operation. Disconnect Google before deleting the plugin; imported historical reports remain in WordPress.

Source archive: the deployment serves /downloads/rootpublish-source.zip with all application source, fixtures, lockfile and build scripts. The intended source download URL is https://rootpublish.com/downloads/rootpublish-source.zip. The Web site and versioned source archive are hosted on rootpublish.com. A maintained public source repository remains pending. WordPress.org submission remains gated on that URL.

Automatic updates in this candidate support plain paragraph and H2-heading articles. Existing rich content (links, images, tables, shortcodes and custom blocks) is refused for automatic replacement so it is not silently removed. Use the native WordPress editor for those articles.
